Patrick:
I met Jon at Ball State University in a little town called Muncie, IN.
We were both studying art, and both crafty enough to have jobs at the art museum. Over the short time before I graduated and Jon went on to Montana, we worked collaboratively on some paintings.
Then things went dark.
Over my years of wanton sleeping in abandoned farmhouses and waiting at deserted restaurants I never really checked my email much.
Apparently, Jon had tried to email one or twice and whether or not received I did not reply.
But then he tried again.
This time his email found me working at an art center in a little town called Indianapolis, IN, actively seeking to disseminate his art in any way possible.
Then he mentioned collaboration.
Here we are again...
(Is a swivel a circle drawn through time?)
...this time online. Here is the idea as I understand it.
Jon and I are going to post new paintings every 20 days or so. Loosely based on a theme incorporating the use of the word swivel - we chose this word to represent the collaborative element. It was a word we used a lot in college.
I have no idea or expectations as to how this will work out. That is the purpose I suppose. But painting is our departure and someday a real time exhibition of this work will show just what all happened and maybe just what a swivel is.
I encourage you all to comment however you like. Your participation is an essential part of this collaboration.
